First Time College Students

First-time college students (which includes students who took dual credit courses) are required to attend one of the New Student Orientations listed to the right.

The orientation will cover degree plans, college resources, and how to be successful at WC.  This will also provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about your first semester at WC.

An admissions application must be submitted online via ApplyTexas before registering for an orientation session. Once your application is submitted, you will receive an email that contains your username, password and myWC login instructions.

If you are unable to attend or would like to change the selected orientation, you will be able to "Drop" and "Join" another orientation session.

You will receive an email with valuable information the week prior to your orientation.

First-time in college students, who have completed all admissions requirements, have two options:

  • 1-Register to attend a New Student Orientation in June or July AND before attending orientation, meet with an advisor in Student Services to register for courses.

              OR

  • 2-Register to attend a New Student Orientation, and while at orientation, work with an advisor to register for courses.

It is strongly recommended you have completed all admissions requirements (application, testing, transcripts, meningitis vaccine) before attending an orientation so that you can register for classes, however it is not required.

All first-time students who do NOT attend a New Student Orientation will be placed on a hold that prevents them from registering online in future semesters.

Transfer Students

Transfer students are not required to attend a group advising session.  However, the advising seminars are open to transfer students.  If you are a transfer student and plan on pursing a degree at WC, or if you have taken credit at another institution that will meet a prerequisite requirement at WC, please take a moment and complete the Request for Transcript Review. This will notify the Registrar's office to review your transcript and have any previously awarded credit put on your WC transcript.  We do ask that transfer student meet with advisor prior to registering for classes.  This can be done by visiting Student Services at the Weatherford or Wise County Campus, or one of Education Centers in Mineral Wells or Granbury. Or you can contact an academic advisors.

Returning Students

We're glad your back!  As a returning student, group advising is not a requirement.  However, if you would like to attend, you are welcome.  If you have specific advising questions, feel free to stop by Student Services at the Weatherford or Wise County Campus, or one of Education Centers in Mineral Wells or Granbury. Or you can contact one of our staff academic advisors.
